Every one of us is equally empowered – “Give to Gain”

    Author

This International Women’s Day, we share an inspiring story of an ordinary woman who discovered the extraordinary strength within herself.

Her experience goes in line with the global theme of “Give to Gain” being celebrated on International Women’s Day 2026 and resonates with the core philosophy of Women-ID that true empowerment does not always come from outside recognition or positions of authority and. More often, it simply emerges from within. In a moment of uncertainty and challenge,

she realized her innate prowess and demonstrated that Identity is not granted by titles—it is revealed through actions.

When circumstances tested everyone around her, she responded not with authority, but with humanity. Through calm presence, compassion, and courage, she became a quiet pillar of strength for others. Her story shows that individuals often reveal something remarkable in difficult times: the power of empathy, resilience, and collective care.

Leadership, after all, is not always loud. It is not always visible in positions or platforms. Sometimes, it appears in the quiet strength of someone who chooses to stand up for others when it matters most.

Dr. Lata Suresh – the author of a book called “इंसानियत की उड़ान” (The Flight of Humanity) reminds us that every one of us is equally empowered for leadership within. Power is not something we are given—it is something we discover, especially when life places us in moments of uncertainty.

On this Women’s Day, let us celebrate not only the women who lead from the front, but also those who lead with compassion, dignity, and quiet strength.

Because women empowerment doesn’t demand for a title. It simply rises when humanity calls.

Excerpt from the Book by – Dr. Lata Suresh

There are journeys that take us across continents, and there are journeys that quietly lead us back to ourselves. This book “इंसानियत की उड़ान” (The Flight of Humanity) isn’t just the story of an air journey. It’s the tale of a moment when time stops, systems fall silent, and humanity confronts its true nature. “The Flight of Humanity” is a work based on a true experience—one that came suddenly, unexpectedly, and yet imparted life’s most profound lessons. Returning from an international conference, the twenty-four hours spent at Baku Airport weren’t just hours of waiting; they were a test of human values, leadership, compassion, and collective courage. This book features no fictional hero. There are no extraordinary powers, no dramatic triumphs. Here are ordinary people—students, workers, families, travelers—who become each other’s support in an extraordinary circumstance. The story begins with the pride of an Indian representative standing as the voice of her country on the global stage—with respect, dialogue, and intellectual fulfillment. And then, gradually, the narrative leads us to a pause, where flights are canceled, time freezes, and identities are left behind.

This experience at Baku Airport forces us to consider: • Where does leadership come from when the system is helpless? • Who do people trust when there is no position or authority? • And how does a person remain human when everything is uncertain? This book doesn’t answer these questions through theory, but through lived moments.

It seeks leadership not in orders, but in presence. It sees power not in authority, but in sacrifice. And it recognizes a nation not in borders, but in actions. “Flight of Humanity” is for all those who believe that leadership isn’t born on platforms, who know that compassion is strength, not weakness, and who believe that to change the world for the better, it’s essential to remain human first. If even a single page of this book forces the reader to consider, “Who would I like to be in difficult times?”, that will be the greatest success of this work. Because ultimately—flights may be canceled, but humanity’s flight must never stop.

There are some experiences in life that we live through—only to later realize that they are the ones that shape us. This book stems from one such experience. When I set out on that journey, I carried only preparation, plans, and confidence. I had no idea that on my return, I would also return with so many stories, so many faces, and so many deep silences. Those hours spent at the airport weren’t meant to be recorded in a diary. They were meant to teach a new way of looking at life. There, I learned that when circumstances are beyond our control, the inner human being within us is most clearly revealed. In this book, I haven’t tried to impose any message or offer anyone a role model. I’ve simply written what I saw, what I felt, and what perhaps we all experience at one time or another in one form or another. The heroes here aren’t those who had solutions, but those who had the courage to support. The victory here is not of any system, but of human dignity. While writing this book, I repeatedly grappled with the same question—if someone else had faced the same situation, would they have remained as sensitive? I want this book not to provide the reader with answers—but rather to give them an opportunity to pause and reflect. When everything becomes unstable, what values do we hold on to? If reading this book deepens even a little bit of a reader’s faith in humanity, if it creates a little space in their heart for a stranger—that will be the significance of my writing. Because journeys don’t always take us somewhere else—sometimes they return us to ourselves.
